New Drugs and Alcohol Working Group Formed for the HCLG

In a step towards enhancing workplace safety, a new Drugs and Alcohol working Group has been established as part of the Health in Construction Leadership Group (HCLG). This initiative comes in response to growing concerns about the impact of alcohol and  substance abuse on safety and well-being in the construction industry. The group aims to create a platform for sharing ideas, developing best practices, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders to tackle this critical issue.

The construction industry is known for its demanding work environment, where health, safety and wellbeing is paramount. However, the misuse of drugs and alcohol poses a significant risk to all on site. The HCLG has recognized the need for a dedicated working group to address these challenges head-on.

The formation of this group signals a proactive approach to mitigating the risks associated with substance abuse. By bringing together experts, industry leaders, and policymakers, the group will work collaboratively to create a safer and healthier environment for all workers within the sector. The success of the Drugs and Alcohol working Group will hinge on the active participation and collaboration of all stakeholders. By working together, the group can leverage the collective knowledge and experience of its members to develop solutions that are both practical and effective. By addressing substance misuse through a collaborative and holistic approach, the group aims to create a safer, healthier, and more productive environment for all workers.

The HCLG's initiative to form this advisory group is a testament to the industry's commitment to improving safety standards and prioritizing the well-being of its workforce. If you are interested to be part of this working group please contact us.

We have also created a brand new landing page for this working group, where updates and resources will be posted > Drugs and Alcohol Working Group Page.
