HCLG Speak at Action on Site Health Scotland 2024

On Wednesday 24th April 2024, Bob Bradford welcomed attendees to the Action on Site Health (Scotland) event at the DoubleTree Hilton Hydro Hotel in Dunblane.

For those who couldn't make it, what did you miss?

  • Robert Atkinson (Public Health Scotland) warned us that life expectancy for both men and women in Scotland is getting shorter.

  • Kevin Bampton (BOHS) shared some shocking statistics, including the fact that occupational ill-health in Scotland has increased by 50% over the past decade.

  • Chris Steel warned the audience that the HSE will be having a noise control inspection focus throughout 2024/25.

  • Michael Fitzgibbon (Balfour Beatty) shared some personal stories from his time in the army, to help explain why mental health is so important and why he will continue supporting as many people as he can in the construction sector.

  • Lauren Miller (BAM) explained that positive change only happens with good leadership, which echoed Michael's thoughts around marginal gains.

  • Bob Bradford (BAM) shared his Top 12 resource links and encouraged people to join the HCLG!

Plus there was so much more great content! For a full review of the event, please head over to the 'Action on Site Health Scotland' Review Page.

It was a great event, and the HCLG look forward to supporting more in the future!
